How does the dancing handkerchief trick work

I've always have had great reception to this prop which was why it was worn out to begin with. I wish you the same as you put it on the market. I have some other ideas that might sell for you so I'll try to get down some time to see you and maybe even have another prototype to play with. I got this book in the mail last night and feel like I owe Abbotts some more money. You get a LOT of magic for your money here. Individually these tricks, illusions and effects would have cost you hundreds of dollars.

Every innermost thought that has made the Spirit Dancing Handkerchief famous. But I hope soon someone creates a charming new personality piece and puts the effect back in the mainstream. Frankly I have not seen that happen yet. Re: One-man work. Leon Mandrakes' son Lon Mandrake tells me that his father Famous for polularizing the "Bottled hank" routine actually did the effect as a one-man illusion. Perhaps the Mandrakes will release their secret to the world someday.

I hope so as I can only guess at what it may be. I have some thoughts on how to do it solo though my current favorite technique uses a single assistant. I think this is important for the personality, or "soul" of the hank, to display independant movement and attitude. There are a few solo ideas in the book too, it is out of print, but we are considering releasing it as an Ebook.

I've been working on Leon Mandrakes routine and it's one of the most magical dancing hanky routines I've ever seen. Many years ago, Joe Karson sold a one person dancing hank effect called Voodoo.

You may be able to find some details about it in the book Beyond Zombie by Michael Rose. The Karson thing was extremely complex and requires some very high powered reels that have not been made in years. Yes, Les Smith was supposed to make two or three of these and was attempting to acquire the necessary reels to do so. I have not heard an update but I suspect that they will end up in the hands of collectors not performers.

There is some new info in the StageCraft chapter about some fascinating backdrops that are very effective and aren't common knowledge. There are several solo-operator methods included. Extensive technical chapter on the art of effective lines, lighting and backrounds.

Ideas from Karrel Fox, Dr. Harry lovecraft, Gary Darwin. With input from well-known consultant to Blackstone Jr. Great Book! If you have any intention of ever performing the Dancing Handkerchief, this book is essential reading. Highly recommended.
